Calling the world

We are pleased to welcome back to Point Amour Dave Goodwin and Chris Allingham along with their friend, Frank Davis. These amateur radio operators travelled to Point Amour in 2006 and 2109, in the month of January, to participate in a world-wide contest sponsored by CQ Magazine. CQ Magazine is the world's leading independent magazine devoted to amateur radio. Point Amour is not accessible by road in the winter so all equipment for the contest had to be loaded on a komatik and pulled by snowmobile to the site. And then antennas had to be rigged in winds of Point Amour. What some guys do for fun!
CQ (-.-.--.-) are the letters transmitted by amateur radio operators requesting 2 way communication with any other operators listening. The number of contacts made in the contest is a big factor in the scoring process. Dave, Chris and Frank have a busy couple of days connecting with operators all over the world from Point Amour.
The 2019 contest runs from January 25 - January 27. Dave and Chris operated the CQ160 CW contest from Point Amour in 2006, winning the Multi-Op category. They are hoping to do the same again in 2019. Stay tuned for results.
